In the afternoon of March 14, 2011, Wen Chuanhao, Professor and Executive Deputy Director of National Research Center of Upper Yangtze Economy, was invited to deliver an academic lecture entitled The Upper Yangtze Eco-Civilization Demonstration Area of Chongqing. This lecture was presided over by Wang Xianglan, Secretary-General of Chongqing Municipal Publicity Department, and Zhou Bo, Director of Chongqing Municipal Civilization Office and Vice Director of Chongqing Municipal Publicity Department, together with other 50 officials attended the lecture.
Professor Wen elaborated from three aspects the background of The Upper Yangtze Eco-Civilization Demonstration Area of Chongqing, namely, the occurrence of international ecological crisis, historical background for development, the status quo of China’s eco-environment and future needs for China’s eco-civilization construction. Professor Wen analyzed the connotation and the main contents for eco-civilization construction, and the history and status quo of China’s eco-civilization construction in a detailed manner, and emphasized the main questions currently encountered. At the end of his lecture, Wen put forward countermeasures and suggestions for eco-civilization construction fromfive perspectives, including eco-consciousness civilization, eco-economy civilization, eco-political civilization, eco-society civilization and eco-environment civilization.
The lecture was praised by leaders of various level of Chongqing Municipal Publicity Department, and they all held that Wen’s lecture was prompt and comprehensive, which laid a solid theoretic basis and provided realistic support for Chongqing’s publicity and construction of the Upper Yangtze Eco-Civilization Demonstration Area.
