Since its establishment, the Center has been taking as its core the research on the economic and social sustainable development in Three Gorges Reservoir areas, Chongqing municipality, Chengdu & Chongqing Economic Zone and regions in the upper reaches of Yangtze River, and has formed a multi-disciplinary research system which focuses on applied economics and integrates such subjects as theoretical economics, business management, sociology, environmental science, management science and engineering. In recent 5 years, full-time and guest researchers in the Center have presided over 2 projects of Major Bidding Projects of National Social Science Found, 1 project of the Key Projects of Philosophy and Social Sciences Research by Ministry of Education, more than 50 projects including projects from National Natural Science Found and National Social Science Found, 4 key projects commissioned by Chongqing municipal government and more than 340 projects commissioned by local governments and other enterprises, with total scientific research fund of about 37,000,000 yuan. Besides, the Center has won 33 provincial level and above awards in research achievements, including 2 second prizes and 1 third prize for Achievements in the Humanities and Social Sciences of Higher Education by Ministry of Education. The researchers have published more than 1,150 papers in such journals asSocial Sciences inChina, Economic Research Journal, Xinhua Digest, Economic Perspectives and Guangming Daily,45 books, 320 research reports and other 21 achievements. Many achievements have been transformed into decision-making suggestions or essential reports of social science achievements, and have been confirmed by state leaders such as Wen Jiabao, Li Keqiang, Wang Yang, Ma Kai and Hui Liangyu.
