Sept. 2002: Economic National Research Center for Upper Yangtze Economy was established.
Dec. 2002: Institute of Regional Economics was approved as one of the first Chongqing Municipal Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base.
Nov. 2004: The Center was approved by the Ministry of Education as the only Chongqing Municipal Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base in Ordinary Colleges and Universities.
Nov. 2006: By integrating the research strengths of Chongqing Technology and Business University, Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing Institute of Industrial Economics was established and approved as Chongqing Municipal Humanities and Social Sciences Key Research Base.
May 2009: Institute of Regional Economics ranked first in the comprehensive assessment of the first batch of Chongqing Key Research Bases.
Sept. 2009: The Center won the honorary title of Advanced Collective of National Education System.
Sept. 2009: The Center won 2 second-prize Excellence Awards for National College Humanities and Social Sciences Research, making a major breakthrough in the university.
Mar. 2010: Chongqing's first batch of professor positions of Liangjiang Scholar was approved.
Apr. 2010: The Center won the third in the Ministry’s 5-year assessment of the national bases of the same type.
Mar. 2011: Applied Economics was approved as the prima subject which can offer master’s degree.
Nov. 2011: The Center won 1 major project of Humanities and Social Sciences of Ministry of Education and 1 major bidding project of National Social Science Foundation respectively, making a major breakthrough in the university.
Nov. 2011: Applied Economics was approved as Chongqing Municipal key discipline.
Dec. 2012: The doctoral program with the aim of serving the country’s special needs —The National Strategy of Talents Cultivation Program for the Million Migrants’ Stability and Prosperity in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area — was approved by the Degree Office of the State Council.
Oct. 2013: Collaborative Innovation Research Center for Urban Agglomeration Industry Development in Chengdu and Chongqing Economic Zone was approved by Chongqing Municipal government.
Oct. 2014: The Post-doctoral Research Station of Applied Economics was approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
