Experts from UBS Investment Research Center and Wellington Investment Management Company Visited National Research Center of Upper Yangtze Economy

On the morning of January 14, 2011, Ms. Wu Quanquan, Director of Chinese Banking Research Center of UBS, Ms. Li Lei, research fellow of Asian Banking Research Center, and Ms. Dai Xiao, research fellow of Global Financial Institute (Banking and Insurance) Research Department of Wellington Investment Management Company, and Ms. Wang Hua, research fellow of the Asia Real Estate Research Department of Wellington Management Company visited National Research Center of Upper Yangtze Economy for academic exchange. Wen Chuanhao, Professor and Executive Deputy Director of the National Research Center of Upper Yangtze Economy, Zou Xuan, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Center, Mao Yueyi, Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Finance of Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU), and associate professors of the School of Finance of CTBU, such as Xie Xin, Luo Guanglian, Jia Hong and Yu Kun, attended this academic exchange, too.

During the exchange, experts and professors all expressed their ideas freely. They discussed the topics such as the current economic development of Chongqing, the strategic position of Chongqing in China’s overall development, the financial situation of Chongqing at municipal and county level, and their relationship between them, land policies and real estate development of this city, and local financing platforms of Chongqing etc.. In the first place, Professor Wen analyzed the position of Chongqing from the perspective of national policies, and Associate Professor Jia explained the “Twelfth-Five Plan” of Chongqing and made prediction of the development direction of Chongqing in the new period. Professor Jia, Professor Mao, Associate Professor Zou, Associate Professor Luo and Associate Professor Yu answered questions raised by the other participants regarding finance, livelihood, land circulation and real estate development in the process of urbanization of Chongqing respectively, and explained the key points and difficulties of and solution for financing issues encountered by the districts or counties of Chongqing.

In the end, those visiting experts stated that they had a better understanding of development of Chongqing through this academic exchange, and they also extended their wishes for more exchanges and cooperation in the future.
